Description
Perched on the undulating terrain of Abeokuta, this ambitious development reinterprets the city’s architectural vernacular, drawing inspiration from its iconic aerial landscape—a rhythmic sea of gabled rooftops and weathered corrugated sheets. The design explores the interplay between tradition and modernity, reviving the art of the gabled roof while seamlessly integrating it into a contemporary setting.
Comprising a dynamic mix of uses, the project features a 150-room hotel, two grand 5,000-seat banquet halls, and an expansive conference center. Thoughtful site planning leverages the natural slope of the land, strategically embedding parking and essential back-of-house facilities within the hill’s natural crevasses, preserving the integrity of the landscape while maximizing functionality.
A defining feature of the development is its glass-enclosed, ascending viewing cradle—an innovative moving elevator that rises above the city, offering uninterrupted 360-degree panoramas of Abeokuta’s historic skyline. This architectural landmark not only pays homage to the past but also carves a path forward, bridging the old and the new in a strikingly modern expression of cultural continuity.
